The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA)

The Museum of Modern Art (often referred to as MoMA) is located at 11 W. 53rd St in Midtown Manhattan (near the Omni Berkshire Place Hotel highlighted in the last entry.)

Famous Works of Art

Many famous works of art can be seen here includes artwork by Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh, Salvador Dali, Henri Rousseau, Andy Warhol, Henri Matisse, Claude Monet, Jackson, Pollock, Frida Kahlo, Jasper Johns, and Francis Bacon.

Hours & Tickets

As of this writing entry for an adult is $20 and children age 16 or younger get in for free. Seniors 65 and older get in for $16 and a college student with a current college ID can get in for $12.

During the summer the museum is open 7 days a week, the rest of the year it’s open every day but Tuesday.

Facts & Figures

Over two million people per year visit this museum. For comparison’s sake; the Met averages about five million visitors per year and the Natural History Museum averages about four million visitors per year.

MoMA first opened its doors on November 7th of 1929 (just 9 days after the big stock market crash that marked the beginning of the Great Depression.)

The New York Pass

MoMA is one of many great New York museums into which a person can gain entry with a New York Pass (a time & money saver for an active NYC tourist.)
